In my artistic practice I usually combine painting and drawing together. It’s difficult to say which of these techniques are more important to me. Everything is depending from the idea that I put in work.
With the mix of painting-drawing I try to open our time that hybridizes everything. Through my works I investigate the world around me and especially myself. Because of that becomes more explicit, what is the human condition in the modern world?
The main topic in my work is materialistic suffering. Using pencil I explore the old culture through engravings and paintings with their narrative stories and spiritual sufferings. Because for me, the culture of previous generations it’s a basic for everything what we have got and rework now. After that, using paint, I depict modern presence that is such unstable, such vulnerable. Often my paintings take a body of person without skin as a starting point to explore the issue of morality and modern suffering. A human who is undressed up to the muscles is more tangible, more materialistic and have no identity.
And after time I could clearly see, how big the gap between human and society is: biological limit of opportunities for the first and the enormous potential of social and technological development for second, which is not limited by time . In its turn, this causes a whole range of issues - alienation, the absurdity of existence, the realm of simulacra - that is generating the loneliness of the individual, the impossibility of communication etc.
Transferring my understanding of the reality onto the canvas or paper, I establish the contacts with other people / viewers who bring their vision of the world picture. During processing of the "alien" mentalities and combining them with mine a new idea for the next work appears. Thus, each new picture consists of a greater number of opinions and views. This provides me the inspiration for the following work.
This is how I could say that on the one canvas the past and the modern ways of living confront and interact. Combining it all I try to create one new world which is composed from different puzzles of our existence.
